Myofascial Release
Myofascial is a 3D continuous web of microscopic hollow tubules that extends from the top of the head to the tip of the toes. Within these are continuous fibres of elastin and collagen surrounded by fluid. This network also provides the instant and continuous communication between each and every cell of our body.
Fascia surrounds and protects every tissue, tendon, muscle, bone, ligament and organ of the body. In healthy conditions the fascial system is relaxed and flexible. This provides a supportive structure allowing us to move safely without restriction or pain. The collagen and elastin within the fascia allow it to be very strong and have a high degree of flexibility. Fascia responds to the internal and external forces applied on it, adjusting itself in order to protect. Following physical and emotional trauma and through poor posture, the fascia scars and hardens in the affected area. This can then cause the fascia to come out ailignment and be less flexible. Fascial restrictions do not show up on CAT scans, MRI's or X Rays therefore many patients suffer unresolved physical and emotional pain due to undiagnosed fascial trauma.
The MFR technique is very different to that of massaging muscles, tendons and the ligaments of the body. Therapits apply th smallest amount of pressure to help the fascia move and twist back into place, restoring its flexibility and taking away the discomfort for the patient.
Hypnosis
The word hypnosis comes from the Greek word for 'sleep,' and is reported to be one of the oldest healing techniques in the world.
From th sleep temples of Egypt, through the histories of ancient Greece and Rome, forms of hypnosis have often been used. In 1995 the British Medical Association endorsed the practice of hypnosis in Medical School education and it has since become a valued addition to conventional medical nd psychotherapeutic treatment.
Hypnosis is a naturally occuring phenomenon and is often referred to as a trance-like state. We experience this relaxed state many times a day, sometimes just for a fleeting moment as we daydream or for longer if we are engrossed in a good book or film. Hypnotherapy uses this relaxed, yet highly focused state, to gain accessto the subconsciuos mind, a source of many of our problems, as well as a tremendous reservoir of potential strength and knowledge. The experience of being hypnotised is difficult to describe, but all hypnotic states are characterized by a pleasant feeling of relaxation. hypnosis is appropriate for both adults and children.
Hot Stone Massage
Basalt (volcanic) stones are heated to a safe temperature and applied to skin in massaging movements. Very deeply relaxing and therapeutic to muscle tension and very good for pain.
Indian Head Massage
A seated massage done fully clothed. A range of movements intended to relax muscles, improve blood circulation to the brain and awaken & alert the senses. Great for stress, headaches & general wellbeing.
Aromatherapy
Pure essential oils used in a number of ways from massage, which is the most usual and effective delivery, to masks & creams etc. Blended by your practitioner in a form that has been prescripted for a therapeutic effect on your specific problem or problems. The oils work by being absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and also by being breathed in & processed by the olfactory part of the brain. Their effect on the body can be almost instant in some cases. Good for most conditions from skin problems to nausea, pain to thrush depending on the applicatication recommended by your practitioner.
Reflexology
A range of massaging and manipulative pressing movements used all over the feet and up the leg (or hand and arm in some cases), used to unblock energy lines along the feet. Based on a map of the feet that shows points in the bodys corresponding points on the feet, this treatment is very relaxing to all systems within the body and aids it in elimination of toxins and in rebalancing itself thus encouraging self-healing. This is great for relaxation, high blood pressure & I use it a lot with my cancer patients to remove toxins & help the body heal.
Hopi Candling
This is an ancient form of healing developed by the North & South American Indians. Made from all pure and natural ingredients they are hollow rolls of cotton (natural flax) impregnated with beeswax, beta cerotine, honey & essential oils. They are lit at one end and the other is placed in the ear with a good seal & burned down. They warm the ear canal, create a light suction (chimney effect) and the vibration of the warm air creates a massage like effect on the eardrum. It also helps clear tubes attached to the inner ear and sinuses. It is a soothing and deeply relaxing treatment, helpful for migraine, glue ear, labarynthitis, earache, tinnitus, sinus problems and rebalancing after flights or swimming etc.
